The message is a familiar one, we all get through this together.
As noted in the article, it is critical that all of our partners, those on the front lines, the ocean carriers, equipment providers, railroads, depot operators, and our most valued customers: the shippers and beneficial cargo owners continue to work together. We echo this statement, and are grateful for the communication and collaboration we have with our customers. Every day we adjust to changing need and the ebb and flow of the workforce.
In our region, this week and next appear to be crucial in the effort to control the spread and keep people healthy. While we put great effort in keeping our work environments clean & safe, and our team distanced & healthy, we cannot presume everyone will continue their norma work routine, particularly those that cannot work from home. In fact we haveseen an increase in people opting to take some time off.
We will intensify our efforts to encourage and support their quick return. In the meantime, please know that all facilities are operating, and that the team strives to deliver their best effort.

"TOGETHER." There are dozens and dozens of profound sayings that use the word "together" It generates so much power and emotion.
As we face one of the most challenging times in our nation's history, every day we hear our healthcare, emergency response, government, religious and family leaders remind us: We are going to get through this together.
The same is true at the Port of New York and New Jersey. We have always worked together as a family, and we will get through this together.
By working together, the partners who move the supply chain every day continue to ensure that supplies keep moving throughout the region. Together we moved more than 55,000 containers last week, cargo filled with the medical supplies, cleaning gear and food that we are all especially dependent on in these uncertain times.
Working together on the front lines daily are the men and women who cannot do their jobs from home, the longshoremen, terminal operators, drayage truck drivers, warehouse workers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and all of their support teams. We are grateful to each and every one of them for keeping the Port of New York and New Jersey moving.
There is no denying that this healthcare crisis has changed every aspect of life everywhere. That's why it is critical that all of our partners, those on the front lines, the ocean carriers, equipment providers, railroads, depot operators, and our most valued customers: the shippers and beneficial cargo owners, continue to work together.
Everyone has a role in the fluidity of the supply chain. Import containers need to be picked up in a timely manner, the cargo devanned and the containers and chassis returned to the terminal or depot to avoid a bottleneck in the supply chain. We recognize that consumer demand is down and that cargo is not being delivered to retailers and fulfillment centers at the same rate, so shippers may be in need of additional warehouse and storage space for their products. We have amassed an extensive list of available space in the region and we are happy to help connect those in need of space with those who have that space.
Together, we are going to get through this difficult time.
